There is one thing that every business man cringes when he/she spends money on it and that is advertising. It is the one thing that every business must spend money on, but the question is always how much and what on. What is going to drive customers to your business quicker and faster helping you make money sooner rather than later?

While you can get a good idea of what has worked for a business like yours in the past there is never a guarantee that it will work again; consumers are known for being finicky people. Plus, customers will really have to be looking for you on Facebook in order to find your self storage business.
There are a number of places that after a little work (typically just filling out a form) and whenever someone searches for self storage in your area your name and location will pop up. Google Places is a popular one. Go to http://places.google.com/business to claim your listing by filling out a simple form and whenever someone searches in your zip code your name will pop up. It is essentially Google’s version of the yellow pages.
Craigslist has become the free classified ad of the internet age. People have grown accustomed to turning to Craigslist to look for things of interest in their city or one they may be travelling to. It’s just like the classified, but since it is searchable it is much easier to use. It is easy and free for you to get your self storage company listed (just follow the simple directions on the city o your choice).
A couple other good method of promoting your self storage facility for free is through Yelp and CitySearch. Yelp is a place where people go to find reviews for local businesses; CitySearch is essentially a glorified version of the Yellow Pages.
The point is that it cost you nothing to be in any of the aforementioned things. With everyone looking to do everything faster with the help of the internet, just being searchable (and findable) could pay off more than the most expensive advertising.
