US Storage Centers recently acquired a portfolio of self storage facilities in Tucson, Arizona. They acquired two facilities that have a combined total of 77,750 square feet of rentable space and 948 units. They will soon be rebranding the facilities to the US Storage Centers brand.

“2014 has been about executing our plan for strategic growth in our core markets and especially in Arizona. We now have a significant footprint in the Greater Phoenix market and with the acquisition of these two well-located assets we have now stretched our presence to the Tucson submarket,” says Charles Byerly, the company’s President and CEO.

Mark McGilvray, Executive Vice President, said, “We look for opportunities where we can add value through operational and physical improvements and these two properties meet our criteria perfectly. We see great potential for increasing revenue in these properties through our revenue management and digital marketing platforms. I’m very excited about the acquisition of these two storage facilities.”

Founded in 1985, US Storage Centers is a vertically integrated real estate company specializing in the self storage industry. They develop, acquire, and manage their own portfolio as well as providing third party management services.

They have facilities in 12 states. As of April of this year, they have over 80 facilities and over five million rentable square feet under management. Their facilities are a combination of self storage units and boat and RV storage. They currently employ over 200 people nation-wide and are the tenth largest self storage operator in the United States.

US Storage Centers is also a founding partner of the 501(c)3 Kure-It Cancer Research foundation. Kure-It is a non-profit organization that raises money for underfunded cancer research as well as for Charity Storage, (Charity Storage is program where self storage facilities donate the use of a vacant storage unit to raise money for local charities.)

When self storage facilities choose to participate in a fund raising activity for Kure-It, US Storage Centers matches 100% of the customer’s contribution. The monies are then donated to world-class institutions such as City of Hope and Cedars Sinai.

To date, US Storage Centers and their customers have raised over $515,000 for Kure-It. Kure-It has raised over $2.7 million and Charity Storage has raised nearly $200,000.
