In September 2011, U-Store-It underwent a new branding and service model and became known as CubeSmart. CubeSmart recently introduced the new brand to the New York City area. All of its 24 New York locations will display the CubeSmart brand by the end of March 2012.
First there was the name change to CubeSmart. Now, the company seeks to change the way customers think about and use storage. They are vigorously focusing on and improving their customer service.
CubeSmart now has over twenty-five new services available to customers. Their mantra is ‘expect the unexpected.’ They offer a host of new services and amenities with the aim to simplify all of the challenges surrounding moving, organizing, and storing personal items or business goods. CubeSmart’s newly rebranded New York facilities will offer these new services.
“With our new brand and enhanced service model, we are taking the ‘self’ out of self-storage,” said Chief Executive Officer Dean Jernigan. “This is particularly important for our New York City Customers, for whom traditional self-storage can pose significant logistical challenges. We are now simplifying the moving and storage process for Customers in all parts of the city by connecting the dots for them.”
Customers can get help with moving or get free use of a moving truck. They can streamline their business activities or errands by using CubeSmart’s services such as packing and shipping, package receipt, and printing and copying. CubeSmart offers professional organizer services and even SmartTrakr, the first-ever mobile application for the self storage industry.
SmartTrakr enables people to keep track of everything that they store. SmartTrakr tracks items whether the items are in a storage unit, in an office or at home. This free iPhone app is available on smarttrakr.com or through iTunes.
Using this app, you can even send a request to a CubeSmart facility manager to pack up a box and ship it or to have it ready for you to pick up at your convenience. Sweet!
Customers can enjoy free coffee and complementary Wi-Fi access at many of the rebranded locations.
CubeSmart owns or manages 479 self storage facilities across the United States. It operates facilities in the New York City area including locations in the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, New Rochelle, and White Plains. According to the 2011 Self Storage Almanac, CubeSmart is one of the top four owners and operators of self storage facilities in the United States.
