The Lock Up Self Storage Opens a New Facility in Florida

At one time while I was growing up, my family owned a canoe. We’d put it in the back of our pickup and haul it down to a nearby lake. It was a hassle and not very convenient to put it in the water. For people renting self storage units from the newest facility in The Lock Up Self Storage portfolio, they have it super easy. This new facility is located next to the Imperial River.

Construction on the newest facility for The Lock Up Self Storage company was completed this summer.  It is the sixth addition to their portfolio that is located in Florida. It opened up for business on November 1, 2013. It is located at 27661 Tamiami Trail, just north of Bonita Beach Road, in Bonita Springs. The new facility will also serve the surrounding areas of Fort Meyers Beach, San Carlos Park, Estero, and the Vineyards.

To celebrate the opening of this new facility, all new tenants will receive their second month free and online bookings will get 25 percent off.

“We built this facility from the ground up, keeping in mind the needs of the Floridian tenant,” says Andrea Carnes, Vice President of Operations for The Lock Up Self Storage. “There are four stories with over 600 climate controlled interior and drive up units, carpeted units and hallways. Because Florida weather can be somewhat unpredictable, we have a covered loading area for tenants so that they’re protected while moving in. We even have a separate building for storing boats and recreational vehicles for those tenants that require it.”

Because it is situated right next to the Imperial River, it is very convenient for tenants who enjoy water sports and activities. (I wish our access to water had been this close!) The units have ten foot high ceilings making it easy for people to store fishing gear, canoes, kayaks, and paddles.

There is a public boat launch right next door to the facility. All tenants have to do is merely stop at their unit, grab their necessary gear, and easily head out on the river.

This new facility will have the same features as the others in the portfolio.  It has electronic coded access ensuring that only tenants have access to the property. They also have a 24-hour security camera monitoring system.

Robert Soudan Sr. and Charles Sample Sr. started The Lock UP Self Storage in 1976 They built their first facility in Glenview, Illinois. With the help of their sons they grew the business to where they now have facilities in 8 states: Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey and New York. They manage over 1.6 million square feet of storage.  Robert Soudan Sr. is a past National President of the Self Storage Association.
