Surfing Self Storage Company Riding the Waves to Help Fight Cancer

Giving to a good cause is something that we all like to do, but sometimes it is hard to actually do. Maybe we don’t have the money to spare or any goods that we can donate. Many charities are more than happy to have people donate their time instead. That can be hard as well with the way most people keep busy schedules these days.

So what if you were able to marry the act of giving to a good cause with work and something fun you love to do? A-1 Self Storage in California has managed to do just that.

A-1 Self Storage has a long history of getting involved in charities on a local, state, national, and international level. Recently they reported their involvement with the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center and 20th Annual Luau & Longboard Invitational.

The event was held in mid-August to help raise funds and awareness for research efforts along with outreach and educational programs and patient care of course.  Overall it took in a quarter of a million dollars.

In the process of making this donation the company entered a team in to the competition where they were paired up with a surfing legend. Needless to say it was an event that people loved to participate in and loved what they were accomplishing at the same time.

“A-1 Self Storage is proud to participate in the annual Surf for the Cure event again this year” said Brian Caster, President and CEO of A-1 Self Storage. “Cancer is the second most leading cause of death in our country. Although advancements have been made to detect cancer much earlier and new treatments have reduced the number of deaths from cancer, we’re still miles away from finding the cure. We hope our support of the UCSD Moores Cancer Center will help bring them one step closer.”

A-1 Self Storage does have a pretty impressive history when it comes to charitable and community endeavors.  For example, earlier this month the company made a donation to the Noah Homes, residential homes that offer services for adults with disabilities.

Noah Homes operates based on their conviction that each person has the ability to enrich those around them.” said Brian Caster, President and CEO of A-1 Self Storage. “They encourage you and I to grow in awareness about people with disabilities so we might work together to build a united community.”
