Gulfstream Goodwill Industries partnered with STORE Self Storage & Wine Storage recently and hosted their version of Storage Wars. STORE donated their large storage bays that were lavishly decorated to resemble an upscale hotel instead of a storage facility. This event netted almost $14,000 in one evening.
This was the first year for the event and it was an incredible success. Over 275 people attended. A DJ entertained the crowd as they bid during the silent auction for over 45 items. Food was donated by Spoto’s Oyster Bar, TooJay’s, Rocco’s Tacos, Vic & Angelo’s, and Prosecco Café.
Items for sale included a silver-rimmed 12-piece place setting, wineglasses, silverware, a vintage Florida bamboo dining set, crystal cases, silver trays, and an assortment of silver candlesticks and serving pieces. There were new home décor items such as bathtubs, track lighting, mini blinds, ceiling fans, towel holders, and cabinet sinks, There were also some tools and an outdoor storage shed.
A set of home office equipment (a mahogany desk, bookshelf, Dell Computer, and sidebar table) sold for $1,050. An outdoor home and garden display sold for $950. A holiday display sold for $600. Attendees also bid on weekend getaways, restaurant certificates, and tickets for cultural and special events.
Iva Grady, director of development for Gulfstream Goodwill Industries, recognized the tremendous efforts of many people who donated many hours to make the evening a success. She was also very appreciative of the beautiful venue provided by STORE Self Storage.
