Storage Giant in Cardiff, Wales, Announces Contest Winner

Storage Giant, in Cardiff, Wales, announced the winner of their contest to win an iPad. Margaret Bell, from Cardiff, was picked at random as the winner.

Storage Giant kicked off the contest August 9, 2013. To enter it, people just had to ‘like’ or ‘share’ Storage Giant’s Facebook page. They were then automatically entered in the contest. Over 2,000 people entered it.

The contest ended September 20, 2013 and Margaret Bell’s name was randomly selected. However, there was one slight problem. The folks at Storage Giant had a hard time contacting her to tell her that she won.

The only way they had to contact Margaret was through her Facebook e-mail. Facebook has recently changed their Facebook mail policy. Any mail from non-friends landed in an ‘other’ folder in Facebook. The only way for someone to know that there was a message there was to click on that folder when they were in the Facebook messages tab.

In an effort to resolve the problem, Storage Giant contacted a local parish priest. He forwarded the message to Margaret. When Margaret got that message, she showed up at the Cardiff facility to collect her prize.

As part of the contest, Storage Giant had a clever video that kicked off the contest.  The video claimed that the news of the contest even reached ‘our friend in the jungle.’

The video showed a young man (in the jungle) who climbed up a tree and found a piece of paper. He unfolded it and, in halting English, read how he could win an iPad by entering in Storage Giant’s contest.

Storage Giant has over 1,400 storage units in over 40 different sizes. The units range in size from a small 10 square foot locker to a 500 square foot unit. In addition to the facility in Cardiff, they have one in Newport and Swansea. Each facility has over 70,000 square feet making Storage Giant one of the biggest storage facilities in the region.

They have a wide variety of services. They have space to store cars and motorcycles, space that is ideal for college students, storage space for tradesmen, and space for businesses to store archived records.

They have office space for entrepreneurs who need a meeting room with multimedia presentations, Internet access, fax and copying services. There is also shared use of a luxury kitchen.

They offer professional moving services for families relocating in the Cardiff, Newport, Bridgend, and Swansea area. They also organize home moves farther afield.
