SpareFoot.com, an online marketplace of more than 5,000 self storage facilities nationwide, has built up its company’s offerings recently, making it the largest network industry in the country. The company announced yesterday that it has joined INSOMNIAC Self Storage Network (ISSN) as well as incorporated SelfStorageDeals.com and SelfStorageFinders.com, other leading self storage web properties, into its network.

The SpareFoot network provides an extensive database listing, helping its consumers find, compare and reserve storage units online. SelfStorageDeals.com is now utilizing the SpareFoot Network and allowing it to manage conversion and SEO efforts. SelfStorageDeals.com enjoys nearly 10,000 additional monthly visits due to the partnership.

“We partnered with SpareFoot because their platform is the best in the industry at converting traffic,” said Matthew Watson, founder of SelfStorageDeals.com. “They provide a user-friendly experience for customers, while generating more tenants for our facility clients,” Watson said. “Our business is growing month over month, and they’ve been amazing partners to work with.”

With SpareFoot there are no monthly fees to be listed. Self storage facilities only pay when a new tenant moves in after reserving a storage unit through a site in the network. The company’s goal is to that offer the most straightforward, effective online marketing solutions to self-storage operators.

“SelfStorageDeals.com is a great addition to our growing list of partner sites,” said SpareFoot CEO Chuck Gordon. “As their traffic continues to grow, facilities listed in the SpareFoot Network enjoy more exposure across the web,” Gordon said. “We’re excited about this chance to provide our thousands of facility clients with even more opportunities to generate new tenants online.”

Earlier this month, SpareFoot partnered with SelfStorageFinders.com, which will benefit from an improved user experience to drive more transactions, and a much larger database of storage facilities. The overhead spent on managing facility advertising subscriptions will also be eliminated, simplifying their business overall.

ISSN is an open reservations network that allows any third-party marketing company to communicate securely in real time with several self-storage management software systems. Created by OpenTech Alliance Inc., ISSN is designed to allow self-storage operators to leverage the marketing efforts of third-party companies. Based in Phoenix, OpenTech is also the provider of the INSOMNIAC line of self-storage kiosks and INSOMNIAC Live!  call-center services.

All facility and unit data is obtained from each facility’s property-management system at the time of the search. When the consumer has selected his unit, the data is immediately stored in the software. SpareFoot can now leverage the ISSN reservation-to-rental confirmation function, which simplifies the reconciliation process. The company needed a simpler way to track the high volume of reservations and confirm when tenants move into a facility. The partnership with OpenTech will allow SpareFoot to automate the process, and reduce the amount of work facility managers have to do to keep their inventory updated.
