Southern California Self Storage Company Honors Veterans

On Memorial Day it is natural for the country to pause and give thanks to the men and women of the armed forces that work day in and day out to protect our way of life. Thanks and appreciation also has to go out to the families of our nation’s soldiers who support their moms, dads, brothers, and sisters as they are deployed around the world.

Life for families of our veterans can be difficult. Not only do they end up having to live life without one of their loved ones for months on end, but they often have to do without a lot of the basics that many of us take for granted.

In some cases it can be because people do not want to have to spend the money on something they may have to give away when they are transferred to another base. Often times it is because life in the military does not really pay well and they can’t afford it.

Rather than see people that should not have to do without suffer, there are a number of charities that work hard to make the lives of military families easier. One such charity is called Homefront San Diego, a non-for-profit that tries to help families in San Diego County fulfill many of their ongoing needs.

No charity can exist alone though; they need help in order to follow through on their mission. A self storage company local to Homefront San Diego called San Diego Self Storage has decided to hold a collection drive during the month of June to benefit the families of veterans in San Diego County.

“It came to our attention that there are an increasing number of military personnel who have been relocated to San Diego from active duty who have immediate needs that cannot be filled through traditional military channels —- it’s our goal to help fulfill those needs by providing easy access to drop off points throughout the county…” said Steven Teixeira, SDSS Director of Property Management.

San Diego Self Storage, like most self storage companies do other things to show they have respect for the men and women of the armed forces by always offering active duty personnel a discount on any storage unit they may rent.

A wide variety of items are being accepted at all 16 San Diego Self Storages during the month of June including gently used furniture, baby items, and gift cards for gas and groceries among many other things.
