Self Storage Site Capitalizes on Exposure to Reach Major Milestone

One of the hardest parts about succeeding in business is in getting the name of your business out there. The greatest business model with the most fantastic product will not make a nickel if no one knows it exists. While advertising can help accomplish that task sometimes it is other methods of exposure that can end up making the difference.

In recent years auctions have become a regular part of doing business in the self storage industry. Thanks to television shows like Storage Wars and the publicity that has come with many of the hidden treasures that people have found in purchased units, self storage auctions opened up an opportunity.

As the popularity of self storage auctions began to grow a need became readily apparent. People, especially newcomers, needed a little help in locating self storage auctions in time to be able to prepare and attend ready to bid. Many of these newcomers likely were unaware of the ins and outs of a self storage auction as well.

StorageTreasures.com was created in order to help fill that need. Almost two years ago the site was created in order to give self storage facilities a central location to advertise auctions at their facility while conversely giving prospective auction goers a means of locating auctions in their area.

The site has developed into much more than just an auction listing. Information for first time or beginning auction goers has always been provided. Recently the site added another educational element with Dan and Laura Dotson of Storage wars fame creating a series of videos aimed at helping people reach success at auctions.

With more people better educated in the art of auction bidding facilities stand a better chance of seeing units for higher prices giving the facility owner a better chance at recouping past rental fees.

In a nation where getting rich quick and finding a hidden treasure is a dream for millions, StorageTreasures.com experienced success rather quickly. Just this month the site reached a major milestone when it listed its 100,000th auction.

“We’ve captured and democratized a market that was largely under the radar, and opened up a previously unknown career path to those looking for a way to make it through a tough economy. 100,000 is a great number, but we’re really just getting started as far as what we’ll be able to offer auction hunters, pickers and garage sale resellers. 2013 will be our biggest year yet,” said StorageTreasures.com President and Founder Lance Watkins.
