Routines are a fact of life, but can be dangerous if you are not careful. Get in the wrong routine and you can find yourself just going through the motions and not making the most of your time. This can be true in all facets of life—work, home, social—you name it. The same can be said for facilities in the self storage industry.
For a business it makes sense to develop a routine. You want a method of operation that is efficient and productive, but if it turns into too much of a routine people can start to just go through the motions rather than do their best.
So how do you fix that? Easy—you set goals. Insert a goal into the routine and the process can be geared towards reaching it whatever the goal is be it profit or something else.
For example, ABC Self Storage in Loveland, Colorado is going to be collecting toys once again for its annual Toys for Tots holiday drive. Whatever they collect will be given to the McKee Medical Center which is adopting 15 families for the holidays.
So they could use all the help they can get!
“It’s amazing how many children there are who can’t have a birthday or Christmas,” said Barbi Burton, owner and operations manager of ABC Self Storage. “It’s heartbreaking.”
Last holiday season the company held its first holiday drive and collected 500 toys. So this year they have set a goal—they want to do even better this year!
“This year, our goal is to get as many toys as possible,” Burton said. “If we could beat our goal; that would be the greatest gift ever.”
In case people need a little encouragement to donate when they bring in an unwrapped toy they will get to choose a coupon from one of the other businesses involved in the drive.
ABC Self Storage is not the only member of the self storage industry that is setting a goal to collect more toys this holiday season than they did the last. A-1 Self Storage in Southern California is hoping to improve upon last year’s total of 2000 donated toys.
“A-1 Self Storage is always proud to participate in the Toys for Tots Annual Holiday Toy Drive each year. This year marks our fourth anniversary of toy collections…” said Brian Caster, President and CEO of Caster Companies. “We feel it is important to bring hope and the joy of Christmas to less fortunate children during the holiday season.”
