Self Storage Company Makes Room for the Community

There are a lot of things that people would like to do. Most people probably want to lose weight. It’s not uncommon for folks to wish they had more time to spend with family, go back to school, or volunteer. We want to do all these things, but sometimes it is just too hard to find the room in our busy schedules to do it all.

Businesses—self storage and otherwise—often feel the same way. Just like people have to find the time so do businesses. Many in the self storage industry are quite adept at finding time to give back to the community and do so all the time.

Westy Self Storage, a self storage company with facilities in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, makes a regular practice of giving back to charity and helping out in the community. For example, the facility in Wilton, Connecticut is going to be hosting the American Cancer Society Relay For Life on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m.

“We are proud to host the kickoff again this year,” said Joe Schweyer, district director of Westy Self Storage, Wilton location. “We welcome the opportunity to assist our community and programs representing such a deserving cause.”

The event will feature a keynote speaker, Honorary Chair Gene Fehrer, and include light refreshments along with door prizes. The race itself will be held on May 31; the starting line will be at the local high school.

Getting involved in events like this is commonplace for the good people at Westy Self Storage. Late last year the Housatonic branch of the Habitat for Humanity was able to hold a party at the Westy Self Storage in Wilton in order to help raise funds so that they could continue to do the good work they do.

“We are so grateful to Westy Self Storage for hosting our event,” said Fran Normann, affiliate director of the organization. “Without their generosity we would not have been able to acknowledge our volunteers with such a special evening. ….”

During the Holiday Season some of the facilities got involved in different toy drives like Toys for Tots and Operation Santa Donation Drive.

“Over the past 10 years hundreds of families have had happier holidays due to the ‘Toys for Tots’ collection program that Westy has promoted,” said Peter Havens, Campaign Coordinator “Toys for Tots”.

It may be hard to make the time, but once you do—much like Westy Self Storage—it is possible to do great things.
