Self Storage Company Knows How to Get the Most Out of its Garage Sales

Many self storage companies are well known for their charitable work. Hundreds of them get involved in Toys for Tots each year. Many more collect food during the Holidays as well as numerous other endeavors. Some have even gone through the time and trouble to build a reputation for their charity work that helps keep people coming back.

There is not a person on the planet that does not like a deal. Our love of the deal along with our habit of amassing a large collection of stuff has helped give rise to garage sales which happen to be a great way for people that like all sorts of things to find a deal for things they may not otherwise be able to afford.

The Lawa‘i Cannery Self Storage has gotten in the routine of holding several garage sales each year. This allows tenants a great chance to sell off some of their stored items (or anything else). They typically allow local vendors to come in as well.

Over the years the garage sale has managed to develop a solid reputation. People are well aware of it and attend in good numbers each time. Businesses and self storage tenants know this as well and make sure that they sign up for one of the vendor spots as soon as the next garage sale is announced.

The last garage sale was on Sunday, September 23. A large group of people had gathered in front of the gate to the facility in anticipation of the sale.

“We had to be here at 6:15 in the morning,” said Kawena Warren, the middle blocker for the Waimea volleyball team.

Part of the tradition of the garage sale is to designate a local charity to be the recipient of a donation. When people and vendors register for one of the spaces they have to pay a fee. All fees are then donated to a specific charity. Sunday’s sale benefitted the Waimea High School Girls volleyball team.

The beneficiary of the next sale in November is going to be the St. Theresa School Washington Experience. Over the years the garage sale has benefitted local chapters of the Special Olympics, Easter Seals, and many other local organizations.

Of course in the process of creating such a highly regarded event the self storage facility receives a good amount of positive press and essentially some quality marketing. So in the end each garage sale is a win-win for everyone involved!
