Self Storage Company Knows How to do a Job Right

If there is one thing that any supervisor will tell you he/she hates is someone that does not see a task through to completion. For some reason there are people that seem to think that just getting something started or putting in a half-hearted effort is enough. In the self storage industry that kind of person would not survive.

Being a success in life, let alone the self storage industry, takes a strong work ethic; one that not only wants to see a job through to completion, but one that wants to do the best job possible in the process. For a good example, take a look at some of the accomplishments of the good people at LifeStorage, a self storage industry in the Chicago area.

On the first of October, the staff at the LifeStorage facility in Matteson, IL, will be hosting a yard sale to support The Pantry of Rich Township. The facility is encouraging tenants to do a little storage cleaning for the fall and donate some things to the sale. 

All proceeds from the sale will go directly to help The Pantry, a local food bank. As an extension of the Salvation Army it does what it can to help provide families in need with non-perishable food items, diapers, and baby formula. They can also help with utility bills depending on the circumstances.

“There are a lot of families struggling in the community and The Pantry is a wonderful savior when it comes to being short on funds to buy food for your family. It not only helps with the food and utility bills, but even buys presents for young ones under the age of 10 at Christmas time,” Allison Thompson, store manager said. “It’s a worthy charity and the yard sale should further help provide for families in need.”

While the charity is likely excited to get whatever help it can get whether it is one time donation or something on-going, the people at LifeStorage don’t stop at holding one event a year. The upcoming yard sale is actually one of many events the facility is involved in that are geared towards helping The Pantry. Donations for the food bank are accepted year round; employees at the facility participated in a charity walk and held a car wash as well.

LifeStorage takes this kind of all-encompassing attitude into doing its job as a self storage facility as well. In 2010, they took over an old, rundown building that was known for being a haven for drug activity in the neighborhood. Once they were done renovating it, the facility was named the Facility of the Year (Conversion category) for 2010 by Mini Storage Messenger.

“We knew the building had potential when we purchased it,” said LifeStorage principal Jean L. Jodoin in a release, “but we also knew that there would be a great deal of structural and architectural work involved in the renovations. The building had been abandoned for many years, and so it needed a lot of attention.”

By doing a complete job to the best of their ability, an award winning facility was produced.
