Self Storage Company Can Do More Than Just Store Your Car or Motorcycle

We live in a society that loves its cars and motorcycles. People give them pet names sometimes and even talk to them like they are people; like they might actually respond.  Often times life finds us spending more time with them than we do our loved ones. So when it comes to storing them it sure is a shame when we don’t have space at home for them.

That, of course, is where the self storage industry comes in handy. It is not uncommon for people to use a self storage unit to store a car or motorcycle either in a unit or in a space outside. When it comes to cars self storage facilities can have another purpose—showing them off and helping out local charities.

For example, on Sunday Shepherd Self Storage in Boardman, Ohio, will be hosting the Street Scene Car & Custom Bike Show.  Spectators can enjoy the show starting at noon. Admission is free, but those who bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley will get a free raffle ticket.

Along with some awesome cars—like The Big Bad Dodge and a 1964 Dodge 330 drag race car with a limited-production 426 race Hemi engine –the show will feature the hosts of the television series Street Scene, Rick Gurrera and Krysta Sylvester.

While it is nice to think a business can be altruistic the good people at Shepherd Self Storage have an ulterior motive—they want to show off their facility. In addition to showing off its self storage facilities, Shepherd Self Storage gets the chance to show off its event center as well.

LifeStorage in Addison, Illinois, understands this concept well. Facility manager Jon Burns commented accordingly when his facility hosted a car show last August.

“We are looking to not only let the community know about our wonderful facility; which offers state-of-the-art security, a plethora of different-sized climate-control storage units to fit any and all needs, as well as office suite rentals and car/semi-truck parking; but also to help people unload some of their old items they might not need any longer,” Burns said.

Like Shepherd Self Storage, the car show that LifeStorage hosted raised funds for a local food bank, the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
