There are lots of things to do in San Diego. You can go to one of the beaches, visit Seaport Village, stroll through the historic Gaslamp Quarter, fly a kite in Mission Bay Park, enjoy Old Town, go to SeaWorld, or visit the zoo. There is always something to see or do for everyone.

This week there is also something else quite unusual going on.  There will be self storage auctions galore around the city for those interested in those auctions. reported that from August 6th through August 9th there will be over 40 storage auctions throughout the greater Dan Diego area. The auctions will be held in facilities in downtown San Diego, Oceanside, Chula Vista, and Escondido. Those attending the auction should arrive 15 to 30 minutes early.

For more information on these auctions, please visit the San Diego County (California) storage auctions page here: San Diego area storage auctions.

Some of the auctions will include a charity auction. A charity auction is where a self storage facility sets aside a storage unit where charity donations are stored. Departing tenants, current tenants, local residents, and businesses donate items to the charity storage unit. (They can get a tax deduction receipt if they so desire.) The unit is auctioned at a public auction and the proceeds are donated to local and national charities.

“With this many auctions happening in such a short time, we expect that many of the big auction hunters from San Diego and Orange County will be out to take a look and to pick up some storage units,” said President and Founder Lance Watkins. “We know there will be some Charity Storage auctions taking place too, so it is a great raise a few bucks for some great local and national charities.”

Some of the charities include Kure-It Cancer Research (that raises money for kidney and other cancer researchers), Olive Crest (dedicated to preventing child abuse and educating at-risk children), and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (devoted to improved care, quality of life, and survival of children with malignant diseases). is a website that helps people find auctions on self storage units that people are delinquent on their rent. They post guidelines for auction hunters and facility owners. They have partnered with industry leaders to develop best practices to make sure the auctions are conducted within the law and that all parties involved are protected.
