It is four days before Halloween. I know many people that think it is awful to see Christmas decorations in the stores before Halloween. But they feel totally different when it comes to Toys for Tots. Their ‘Scrooge’ heart melts and they want to help so that needy children can have a good Christmas.

San Diego Self Storage (SDSS) is once again participating in the Toys for Tots program that is sponsored by the United States Marine Corps.  This year, they are also partnering with Rubio’s for the toy drive.

The drive started on October 24 and will run through 6:00 p.m. on Thursday December 19th. People wishing to participate in the toy drive can drop off new, unwrapped toys at any of the 18 San Diego Self Storage facilities throughout San Diego.

There are some nice incentives to encourage people to participate. The first 50 donors who drop off a toy at any of the SDSS facility will get a coupon for a free taco at any of the Rubio’s restaurant located in San Diego.

Also, each SSDS faculty will hold a drawing for a $100 credit toward a tenant’s storage rent. This could be for either a current customer or a new one. Rubio’s has also donated a family four-pack of complimentary meal cards. Individuals can register for the drawings when they drop off their toy at an SDSS facility.

According to SDSS Managing Partner, J. Terry Aston, “This year marks the 15th consecutive year that SDSS is participating in the Toys for Tots collection drive and with 18 facilities throughout San Diego County, it’s convenient for families to drop off toys at our SDSS locations and sign up for the drawing. We’re tremendously honored that Rubio’s is partnering with us this year, which demonstrates its support of our mission to give back to deserving San Diego youth. Rubio’s contribution to our collection drive embraces our joint commitment to make an impact in the communities we serve.”

Last year the US Marine Corps Reserve delivered 136,976 toys to children in the San Diego county area and SDSS contributed 16,232 toys to that effort. San Diego Self Storage hopes to surpass that number this year and collect more toys to give to well-deserving children.

Rubio’s is headquartered in Carlsbad, Calif., and operates 196 restaurants in California, Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Nevada. San Diego location include: Encinitas, Del Mar, Torrey Highlands, Rancho Bernardo, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Carlsbad, San Marcos, Sorrento Mesa, Scripps Ranch and La Jolla.

San Diego Self Storage has been in business since 1972.  They are now the largest self storage provider in San Diego County.
