Recognition Makes the Heart Grow Fonder for Self Storage Facilities

There is an old saying that everyone has heard whenever a family member, girlfriend, or boyfriend moves away—absence makes the heart grow fonder. A similar concept applies in the business world, but it is more like recognition and not absence that makes the heart (of tenants) grow fonder.

For prospective tenants, it can be hard to decide which self storage facility is the best one to go with. You can look for price, but cheaper is not always better and a higher price does not necessarily mean the quality is higher. Comparison shopping is one way to go, but who really has the time to research and possibly visit more than one location?

How can customers navigate their way through the options to find the one that is best for them?

One way to shrink the pool of options is to see who has been recognized for the quality of their work. Whoever the recognizing authority is will likely have no ulterior motive for naming the facility, so their opinion can be used as a good starting point to help you find the facility that will work best for you.

Recognition can come in many different ways, but one of the more common and trusted is through the Better Business Bureau. The general purpose of the BBB is to alert consumers to fraudulent businesses and inform them of the reliable ones.

“Accreditation in the BBB is by invitation only” says Steve J. Bernas, president & CEO of the Better Business Bureau serving Chicago and Northern Illinois. “And only those businesses that meet our high standards, and pass the review process are approved by our Board of Directors.”

LifeStorage, a Chicago-area self storage company recently was recognized as an accredited business with the BBB.

“We are proud to be a BBB Accredited Business,” said Michelle Wight, District Manager for LifeStorage. “In today’s world it is imperative that our customers know how seriously we take our commitment to excellence and good customer service. Our achieving BBB Accreditation exemplifies that goal.”

Along with your local BBB, there are often different entities that will recognize self storage facilities local to their area for excellence. Amazing Spaces in the Woodlands (a Houston-area suburb), has been recognized by the WoodlandsOnline.com as being the best self storage facility in that area for the last couple years.

They have also been certified as a business that provides excellent service to women by WomenCertified, an organization that recognizes businesses for their service to specifically women.

When prospective tenants can see that an independent authority has recognized a self storage facility for excellence, be it a general stamp of approval like from the BBB or for providing excellent service to women like WomenCertified, they know that this business must be doing something right.

With that recognition can come an increase in business since people will know your self storage facility meets a certain quality standard.
