Twenty years ago if you were to say to someone “hey, let’s go to the self storage facility” they’d probably look at you kind of funny. However in the present that could not be farther from the truth. Nowadays it seems like self storage facilities are hosting all kinds of events. From charity events to reality television shows to garage sales; it’s all happening at your local self storage facility.
LifeStorage, a self storage company based out of the Chicago area, has been known to host all kinds of events at their facilities. Some events are stand-alone while others are regular affairs—like garage sales. Many of the facilities under the LifeStorage name make it a habit to hold periodic garage/yard sales to give their tenants and the general public a chance to sell things.
By gathering multiple people in the same general area the ‘garage sale’ is more appealing to buyers since they can hit many ‘sales’ in one stop.
The Southwest facility (in Chicago) held one on October 12.
“This event is a wonderful way for LifeStorage to reach out to the community, as well as provide an added benefit to its clients,” said Shalonda Siler, District Manager for LifeStorage. “The Garage Sale event allows clients to free up extra storage before the winter months. Community members can also take advantage of the event and are invited to bring in any unwanted items they wish to sell. In all, this is a wonderful way to bring people together in a fun, social atmosphere.”
Not every gathering is about conducting business. Sometimes it’s nice to get people together to enjoy good company and some general fun—just like they would at a party. So when the company opened a new facility in Harwood Heights (Chicago) it threw one.
“We are thrilled to be opening our new Harwood Heights location,” said Michelle Wight Sands, Director of Operations for LifeStorage. “We are excited to become a part of the Harwood Heights community, and we invite everybody to come celebrate our grand opening with us. The Grand Opening event is a great way to introduce our services to the community, and it also helps us to get to know our neighbors on a personal level.”
The great thing about any event held is that it gives the facility a chance to show the general public what they have to offer.
“In addition to serving as a fun social engagement, this Grand Opening event will help us introduce our services and facilities to potential customers…,” said Sands.
