News Round Up for the Self Storage Industry

There is always something happening in the self storage industry. Today, let’s look at three snippets of news around the nation.

Storage Express recently purchased three facilities in Sidney, Ohio, from Lock-It-Up Storage. This adds 62,000 square feet and 500 storage units to Storage Express’ portfolio. Storage Express will rebrand the facilities, upgrade them with the latest security systems, personalized access control features, add automated 24-hour rental centers, and other amenities that are offered at their other facilities.

Storage Express owns and operates 79 self storage facilities in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, and Ohio. They are headquartered in Bloomington, Indiana. Storage Express also opened four other locations this past year.

In other news, CubeSmart, a self-administered and self managed self storage REIT received three Gold Stevie Awards at the seventh annual Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service. The Stevie Awards were presented at a banquet in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over 300 nominated nominees from the United States and several other countries attended the ceremony. CubeSmart and Delta Air Lines each won three Gold Stevie Awards, more than any other organization in the competition.

The Stevie Awards are conferred in four programs: The American Business Awards, The International Business Awards, the Stevie Awards for Women in Business, and the Stevie Awards for Sales & Customer Service. These awards recognize outstanding performance in the workplace around the world.

“We are honored to be among this year’s Stevie award winners,” commented CubeSmart President and Chief Operating Officer Christopher P. Marr. “CubeSmart has been at the forefront of redefining customer service in the self-storage industry, and I am delighted that our company and, more importantly, our employees, have been recognized for their tremendous efforts with the top prize in three areas that are central to the long-term success of our business.”

Last in the news, USSelfStorageLocator officially launched a new logo for their company. The logo is a bright blue world globe behind a green silhouette of the United States. Centered on the silhouette is a white padlock.

The new logo is more friendly and welcoming and easier for people to recognize and remember when they see it in various social media when using a mobile, handheld, or desktop device.

“The USSelfStorageLocator company understands that self storage renters value the items they are storing and are very concerned with the security of any given self storage facility. The lock in our logo signifies that we identify with their concerns.” Says Victor Dante, CEO.
