As the end of 2013 comes near people are going to start reflecting. What did they do right in the last year? What did they do wrong? What can they do better? Those reflections often culminate in resolutions to do better in the coming year. Little do people know, but their local self storage facility can help people make some of the toughest a reality.

Wait. What? How in the world can a self storage facility help someone meet keep their New Year Resolution? You’d be amazed at the kind of help a little space can provide!

Now some like getting better organized is pretty simple. By clearing out things that you don’t need on a daily basis—effectively creating more space and clearing away clutter—getting organized is much easier. Some of the other resolutions people fail are not quite as cut and dry.

A study conducted by the University of Bristol in 2007 ranked the top ten resolutions people fail at the most. Here are some and how a self storage unit can help keep them:

-Less time for toddlers in front of the television: people often use the latest Disney show to occupy their toddlers so they can get stuff done around the house. If they were better organized they may not need as much time to straighten up the house and would not need Mickey and Donald to occupy the kids.

-Learn something new: people often like to get in to something new, but often don’t feel like they have the space necessary to store the gear for a new hobby or to engage in one at home.

-Keep a journal: like many things this comes down to time. A house that requires less time to keep up with—because it’s more organized–certainly frees up time to write.

-Live life: just liking keeping a journal it comes down to time. A house that is less cluttered will help reduce the time away from work spent on things that aren’t fun.

-Spend more time as a family/have a family fun night at home: outside of work household chores and tasks eat up a lot of our time. In some regards, a more organized house will help make them easier to complete. At the same time freed up space can be used to create a family fun space.

Many of the things that we want to do we don’t because we lack the time to try or the space to keep the gear, but if we were better organized and had more space we might get exactly what we need to make those elusive resolutions a reality.
