Thanksgiving is only a day away. The nation is preparing to enjoy a day of food, family, and togetherness that is only rivaled by the next holiday on the calendar, Christmas. This is the time of year that we inevitably reflect on what we have and can appreciate the good things in life.

Sadly, there are many out there that do not have much and may find it difficult to look fondly on the holiday season. Luckily there are plenty of people that do not mind giving to those less fortunate so that they too can smile during the holidays.

As Christmas time draws even closer, more and more self storage facilities are getting involved in their communities and spread holiday cheer. Many are getting involved with a well-known program, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots Program.

Recently, an additional 64 U-Store-It facilities announced that they would be working with Toys for Tots as official drop off stations. All of said that they would be donating storage space for as long as the program needs it during the drive. That brings the total number of U-Store-It self storage facilities involved with Toys for Tots to over 320 across the nation.

“Building on last year’s success, our managers are excited to collect toys and make a contribution to children in their local communities again this holiday season,” says Steve Hartman, Senior Vice President of Marketing at U-Store-It.

Storage Solutions, a self storage company with 21 locations spread throughout Southern California, have announced that they will once again be involved in Toys for Tots much like the U-Store-It facilities. To encourage people to donate they offer a generous discount on to new customers, 50 percent on new storage rentals, and existing customers can get 25 percent off boxing and moving supplies.

Storage Solutions along with its affiliate, the Union Development Company, also present Toys for Tots a check for $500 when the toys are collected at the companies headquarters.

“The company has been involved with Toys for Tots for a long time and everyone here is very proud to support the program. We enjoy making it easy for customers and our local communities to get involved, too,” said Jae Ho, Operations Manager.

For over half a century the United State Marines have been collecting toys to be distributed to children that would otherwise have not had much of anything under the Christmas tree during the holiday season. In that time they have collected over 400 million toys and used them to make 188 million children smile at Christmas.
