MiniCo Publishing announced today that the next webinar in its free webinar series will be “Marketing Strategy vs. Tactics — a Game-Changing Marketing Distinction for Our Industry.” The webinar will be presented by Derek Naylor, the president of Storage Marketing Solutions, and will be sponsored by Storage Marketing Solutions. It will be held March 24, at 2 p.m. ET/ 1 pm CT/ 12 pm MT/ 10 am PT.

Naylor, who lives in Pleasant View, Utah, has been the president of Storage Marketing Solutions for seven years. He founded SMS in 2003. Since then, he has incrementally increased his clients’ sales revenue by more than $250 million. At the same time, he has expanded SMS, which now helps hundreds of self-storage operators around the country to increase their rates of occupancy and improve their profits. One strategy Naylor uses to do this is the Outsourced Marketing Director program. Naylor also frequently contribut

es to industry magazines and speaks at trade events.

During the webinar, Naylor will focus on strategies and techniques that self-storage owners can use to market their facilities more efficiently while also maximizing their net operating income. He will also debunk certain myths about traditional marketing that tend to get in the way of owners’ attempts to publicize their businesses. Naylor will discuss:

  • direct mail
  • Yellow Pages advertising
  • marketing to other businesses
  • free rent and discounts
  • Internet marketing
As usual, Poppy Behrens, the publisher of MiniCo Publishing, will be on hand to moderate the discussion. The Mini-Storage Messenger webinars are an ongoing series. This month, MiniCo offered two webinars, “Above the Roof, Below the Roof: Making Money on Both Sides,” a webinar on using solar panels in the roof of a self-storage facility as a way to increase revenues, and “Understanding a Self-Storage Pro Forma,” which covered the ins and outs of Pro Forma documents.
To get more information or to register for the webinar, interested persons should visit Mini-Storage Messenger online. Registered participants will receive an email with instructions for how to enter the webinar.
