Storage facility owners are very service oriented and dedicated to giving a helping hand to people in their community. They donate books to libraries, school supplies to elementary school children, toys to needy children at Christmas time, and support to organizations that help veterans, troops overseas, and military families. And now, one facility will be assisting new mothers. Manhattan Mini Storage announced that it will support Room to Grow, a nonprofit organization in New York City that supports low income families raising babies. Room to Grow provides training and support to low income expectant mothers for the first three years of their baby’s life. They also provide the mothers with new or lightly used baby items.

Room to Grow trains new mothers about nutrition, a baby’s cognitive development, childhood safety, and preventative medical and dental care for the baby. They explain how parents can nurture language development. They teach parenting strategies and skills, how to access community resources, and developing a support system with family members and friends. They also hold support groups for parents.

Room to Grow meets individually with each family every three months for the first three years of the baby’s life. Those who participate have to sign a commitment agreement agreeing to being on time to their appointments and not missing any. At each appointment, parents receive age-appropriate items for their baby

“When we learned about their amazing mission and overwhelming need for space, we were thrilled to donate a full year of storage,” said Stacy Stuart, VP of Marketing for Manhattan Mini Storage.

Manhattan Mini Storage is well-known for its community support and assistance to charitable organizations. It adds Room to Grow to their ongoing list of groups that they support. Some of these groups include Animal Haven, International Refugee Committee, and the Coalition for the Homeless.
