Lock Up Storage on National Television

How would it be to be featured on a national television show? Think of the exposure that would give your self storage business. That’s a lot of free advertising!

Lock Up Self Storage was recently featured on NewsWatch as part of its monthly Biz Report. The Biz Report looks at small and medium sized companies and the impact that they have in their industry.

Mallory Sofastaii, a host of NewsWatch, investigated and reviewed the company and shared her findings on the show. One of the things she highlighted was Lock Up’s recently released mobile app.

Using the app, customers can keep track of which facility their belongings are in. They can get directions to the storage facility, pay their bills, and store their gate code and unit number.

The program also has a ‘tap to call’ feature that allows tenants to call the storage facility with a single tap on their device. This application is a perfect example of a traditional industry using modern technology to create a more accessible and seamless experience for the end user.

The app is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, is optimized for iPhone 5, and requires iOS 6.0 or later. It is also available for Android devices.

NewsWatch airs weekly on the IOIN Network and monthly on the History and FFI Channel. The thirty-minute series began in 1990 and recently celebrated its 850 original episode. They have featured over 10,000 individual stories on a wide variety of topics including technology, finance, travel, new products, entertainment, charities, health and medical issues, and legal matters.

Lock Up Self Storage is personally owned and operated company. Robert Soudan Sr. and Charles Sample Sr. founded the company in 1976. They build their first facility in Glenview Illinois.

With the help of Soudan’s son and son-in-law, the company expanded the number of facilities they had. Lock Up now has facilities in 8 states with over 1.6 million square feet of rentable space. Based in Chicago, they have facilities across the US and Hawaii.

Robert Soudan Sr. is a past national president of the Self Storage Association. Bob Soudan Jr. has served as a national director of the Self Storage Association in addition to serving as a region president.

The Lock Up Self Storage facilities have carpeted hallways, wine storage, a free move-in truck, and office, home, and commercial storage. They also have a referral rewards program. When a customer refers a friend and that person rents a unit, both the customer and the friend receive a $25 referral reward.
