Is There an App for That?

Posted on May 24 2011 - 2:31pm by Tony Gonzalez

When it all comes down to it, people want to be able to do what they do or buy what they buy in the easiest and most efficient manner possible. With the dawn of the electronic age well underway it is becoming more and more common to find businesses, self storage and others, making as much use as they possibly can to make their company more attractive than the next.

Often times there is one question that everyone asks when it comes to whether something can be done easier or more efficiently:

Is there an app for that?

Mobile phone applications have exploded onto the scene ever since devices like the IPhone, Android, and IPad have become common place. Many companies have created applications that users are able to download for free that will make it much easier for them to utilize the services of that business.

For the self storage industry mobile phone applications could be a great benefit to companies. Depending on what a company wants to make available over the app, users can locate a self storage facility, reserve a storage unit, get directions to a particular one, and even pay their bill.

Next to moving all your stuff in for you, an app can’t do much more than that for a self storage user!

When Todd Manganaro, president of ezStorage Corporation, rolled out a mobile phone application for his company recently he knew he had a tool that would only make them more popular with their tenants.

“This new tool extends our commitment to providing the best self storage experience in the industry to the growing demographic of mobile consumers. “We continually look for new and innovative ways to enhance our customers’ experience whether they are at one of our facilities, at our website, on Facebook or Twitter or now, mobile based.”

Use of social media is nothing new to companies in the self storage industry, and since the vast majority of social media services are free companies can’t go wrong in using them. Many companies have realized that maintaining a presence on Facebook and Twitter can generate a lot of buzz for their company and is also a great place to offer promotions to ‘friends’ and ‘followers.’

“We have always offered college specials, but this year we decided it was time for something fun, and more in tune with the college customer market than the usual print advertising,” ezStorage President Todd Manganaro.
