How the Self Storage Industry Can Help You Keep Your New Year’s Resolution

Come midnight people all over the country will break out into a semi-spontaneous rendition of a song that most people don’t know the words to (Auld Lang Syne; a New Year’s Eve tradition for years and years). As their celebration dies down and the new day and year begins many will be ready to take part in another time honored tradition—making a New Year’s Resolution.

Sadly, most of them will fall by the wayside as optimism loses out to realism and the expectation of work and effort above and beyond the norm to meet that goal. However, in many cases all people need is a little help in order to stay on track with their New Year’s Resolution.

That is where the self storage industry would be more than glad to help out.

Think about it for  minute and you’ll realize that in many cases all you need is a little more space. With it you’ll have the extra push to keep you going or the absence of a barrier that has always stopped in you in the past.

For example, it is not uncommon for people to want more organization in their lives. The feeling of chaos often comes with the lack of sufficient space to keep oneself organized at home—you simply have too much stuff!

With the help of a self storage unit you can finally organize and space things out at home in a fashion that makes it easy to do what needs to be done in a timely fashion. The lack of clutter will also help reduce stress (another common resolution). Less stress can make it much easier to keep a cool head and stay organized.

These days saving money/reducing debt is a common resolution for people. With a self storage unit you can store some of your belongings and downsize your living arrangements. It may not be the preferred way to save, but it can be the most effective.

Lots of people want to lose weight every year. It may sound silly, but a self storage unit can be a great tool to help people achieve that goal. By clearing out your garage or a spare room you can create enough space in the house for an exercise machine or maybe even a home gym.

Volunteering more is a big resolution; many people recognize that the world is bigger than them, but find it hard to give time back because of their own hectic lives. Not only can a self storage unit help reduce stress (and that hectic feeling) as previously described, that time you save by being better organized can go to volunteering.

Self storage facilities are famous for being involved in numerous charitable endeavors as well. You can donate goods to an auction or garage sale, place a bid or even buy something, help in a donation drive, or simply give money. The possibilities are endless.

It may be hard for the self storage industry to help you quit smoking or drink less, but there are many New Year’s Resolutions that it can help with—it just might require a little thought to figure out how!
