How Do You Handle Pesky Birds?

This spring, the area where I live has been inundated with magpies. Their noisy squawking is annoying and cleaning their droppings off the patio, patio furniture, and sidewalk is a major pain in the neck. They are building such a huge nest in our pine tree that I’m afraid the branch will break. Then, there are the robins. They eat all of our strawberries and raspberries before I can pick them.

Birds can be such a nuisance in residential areas. They can also be a huge problem for self storage facilities.

Birds can build nests and wreck havoc in many areas around storage units. They build nests in heating and air conditioning units, in and around gutters, on ledges, on windowsills and light posts, under eaves and on signage.

If a customer slips on bird excrement and gets hurt, there’s a possibility of a law suit. If a customer contracts a disease from the birds and it is determined that you are negligent, that’s another lawsuit possibility.

Birds can also damage your physical structure making repairs on-going and difficult to maintain.

Bird-B-Gone has several products that effectively and humanely deal with pesky birds. They include:

Bird spikes
(both metal and plastic) that keep larger birds like pigeons and gulls from landing and roosting on flat or curved surfaces.

Bird wire
keeps large birds off ledges, parapet walls, rooflines, and handrails. The wire is suspended between a series of poles and springs that make the landing surface too unsteady for birds to land on.

Bird Chaser Super Sonic is a sound devise used to deter pesky birds from large, open spaces. These are recorded distress and predator calls of actual birds and are broadcast every ten minutes. When birds hear them, their natural instinct is to flee.

Bird slope
are pieces of PVC that create an anti-perching, anti-roosting surface.

Transparent bird gel is a sticky repellent that prevents birds from landing on horizontal surfaces. Birds do not like the sticky sensation on their feet and will move on to a different spot without the gel. This is effective for small and large birds.

Bird netting prevents birds from landing, roosting, or nesting. It is one of the most efficient and effective methods for controlling pesky birds. It is made out of heavy-duty polyethylene.

If you have any problems with birds around your self storage facility, you might want to look into some of these products. I know that there are a couple that would really help me with my problem at my home!
