Warm weather. Food. Friends. Music. Fun and games. Carnival rides. This and much, much more will be part of the MayFest held in Maplewood, New Jersey. It’s an annual event that the community looks forward to and enjoys. Festival organizers anticipate that between 4,000 to 5,000 people will attend.
Weather permitting, the Fest will be held May 20. If there is inclement weather, the Fest will be held the following week on May 27. The Fest will run from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m.
Harrington Moving & Storage will be a part of the MayFest. They will sponsor one of the inflatable rides for the fest. These rides are very popular with the families.
“The 11th annual street festival serves to bring people to the district so they may become acquainted with the district’s shopping, dining and service opportunities,” said Diana Vitrano, Maplewood District Manager. “The event also gives our district businesses an opportunity to introduce themselves to the public.”
The MayFest will have a kiddie train, 4 pony rides, a petting zoo, a balloon animal maker, and other activities for children. There will also be a Classic Car show.
More that 100 vendors will participate in the fest. There will be artists and crafters displaying and selling their wares. Some of the most popular bands in the area will provide live music.
The Springfield Avenue Partnership started the MayFest. The partnership was created by a small group of people who wanted to revitalize the main shopping area in their neighborhood. Their purpose was to develop a clean, safe, attractive shopping district. They organize and promote events for community members to enjoy and also to draw people down to the shopping district to support local merchants.
The Partnership provides a variety of other services such as conducting workshops, publishing a business directory, assisting with façade renovation projects, and publishing a newsletter. They assist with street and sidewalk cleaning and have created a database of commercial space that is available for sale or rent. They also support the displaying of holiday decorations, landscaping, and planting trees.
Harrington Moving & Storage will also have a booth throughout the MayFest. They will hand out free balloons and display one of their gigantic moving trucks.
“Harrington Moving is super excited about this fun event,” said Jeff Harrington, owner and founder of Harrington Moving. “The street fair is a great way for Maplewood residents and its surrounding community to have a fun, enjoyable time.”
