Extra Space Storage Knows Beauty When it Sees it

In an industry like self storage, image can mean the world. People are starting to look online more and more to find self storage facilities, but it is still a common practice for people to go to the ones that they simply see in their neighborhoods. When that is the case, and there are multiple facilities, people often choose by the one that they think looks the best.

The idea is that if a facility takes the time to have a good-looking appearance than it will likely pay attention to the finer details that does make a business good.

Just like customers often look for beauty in self storage facilities, Extra Space Storage likes to recognize beauty as well by partnering up with an organization that is all about recognizing beauty inside and out—the Miss America Organization.

“We are pleased to help a charity that supports youth in our community. Extra Space Storage is committed to helping local organizations in the communities that we serve and we are delighted that we could help Miss San Joaquin with its storage needs,” said Bob Carroll, Divisional Vice President for Extra Space Storage.

Miss San Joaquin (a preliminary competition for Miss California), as well as the Miss America Organization, will now be getting their storage needs met by Extra Space Storage of Stockton. Both Miss San Joaquin and Miss America award scholarship money to contestants. The Miss America Organization offers about $45 million a year to help young women reach their educational goals.

Giving back to the community is not a new thing for Extra Space Storage, the second largest self storage company in the United States, to engage in.

In early May 2011, the company offered up free storage along with some supplies for people that were hit hard by the severe storms that ravaged the area.

In 2010, a dozen Extra Space Storage facilities in Southern California partnered up with TRI Products to provide people with a drop off point for electronic waste recycling. That same year, facilities in Florida partnered up with The Early Development of Global Education (EDGE) Foundation and the Miami-Dade Metro Police Department to assist with their annual toy drive,

“Extra Space Storage appreciates the opportunity to be involved with local charities and looks forward to exceeding the number of toys collected last year by 100 percent. Our goal for this year’s drive is to collect more than 6,000 toys,” said Ken Speegle, divisional vice president for Extra Space Storage.
