Door to Door Sends Care Packages to Troops Overseas

As owners and managers of self storage facilities, there are many ways that you can show your patriotism.  You can fly a Unites States flag at your facility. You can give families in the military discounts on their rental unit. And, if you are like Door to Door Storage and Moving, you can send care packages to troops stationed overseas.

This year, Door to Door celebrated the 4th of July with its “Door to Door Cares: Supporting Our Troops” program where they collected assorted items to be included in care packages. They collected items such as luxury personal items, snacks, energy drinks, hand wipes, jerky, and Starbucks Via®. This year, they sent 26 packages to US Air Force Colonel Brad Bredenkamp stationed on Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan. (To date, they have sent a total of 89 care packages.)

“The Door to Door family has been committed to showing support for our troops since 2009,” said Tracey Kelly, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Door to Door Storage®. “These shipments are just a small token of our appreciation. As long as our Armed Forces are serving abroad, Door to Door will remain dedicated to this cause.”

Bagram Airfield, originally built in the 1950s during the Cold War, is one of the largest U.S. military bases in Afghanistan. The U.S Armed Forces and the International Security Assistance Force currently occupy the base. It has a dual runway (one 11,500 feet long and the other 9,852 feet long) that can handle any size of military aircraft. It also has numerous large hangars, support buildings, and housing areas.

“On behalf of the men and women of the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing, I would like to thank the people at Door to Door Storage for their moral support and generous donations to our deployed service members,” said Colonel Brendenkamp.

“The snacks, energy and vitamin drinks, socks and other items are especially helpful for our security forces personnel who patrol outside the wire for long hours at a time to prevent insurgent attacks on our airfield. Personally I want to thank you all for lifting the spirits of hundreds of dedicated young American men and women who are away from their loved ones serving our great nation. Thank you”.

Door to Door introduced portable, containerized storage in Seattle, Washington, in 1996. The concept quickly spread along the West Coast. Now, with corporate headquarters in Seattle, Door to Door has facilities in more than 61 metropolitan areas in the United States.
