The evolution of the self storage industry has been an interesting one. The industry began simply as a place for people to store personal belongings. The industry then morphed into one that also offered moving services. It changed again when it started offering storage in containers instead of various sized rooms in a facility.
It also adapted by providing storage needs for businesses and then conference rooms and other rooms that entrepreneurs and small business owners could use instead of renting office space. Door to Door Storage and Moving is one such company that has kept up with the changes and the demands and needs of the marketplace.
Door to Door revolutionized the self storage industry when they introduced portable storage containers in Seattle, Washington. Customers readily accepted the idea and soon Door to Door offered their storage containers all along the western coast of the United States. Now, Door to Door has storage facilities in over 61 metropolitan areas across the United States. They offer moving services at their facilities in 34 states.
Three years after they opened their doors for business, they started offering self-service moving to their customers. Not only did their customers use this new service, the demand exceeded the company’s expectation.
Today, they announced a strategic partnership that extends the moving services that Door to Door offers. The company has joined efforts with Transit Systems, Inc. (TSI). TSI specializes in shipments of small household goods and in transporting items that are too big for parcel service but not big enough for a full truckload shipment.
Door to Door customers can now ship their storage containers to Alaska or Hawaii. “Door to Door is excited to work with TSI and provide more options for their customers who need to transport items to Alaska or Hawaii,” said Tracey Kelly, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Door to Door Storage®. “Their focus on small moves of household goods was a perfect fit for our uniquely sized portable storage and moving containers.
“If you need your belongings shipped to the Aloha state or as far north as the ‘Last Frontier’, Door to Door in conjunction with TSI is ready to help with your next life transition,” said Kelly.
Transit Systems, Inc. is headquartered in Wayne, Pennsylvania, which is just outside of Philadelphia. The company has been in business for 20 years. They offer self-service and full-service options for customers who need to ship their belongings to different locations.
