‘D’ Stands for Discount in the Self Storage Industry

If there is one thing that every consumer likes to see whether the product is a self storage unit or something else it is the word ‘discount.’ People do not like to pay full price. They want it lower, and will often predicate their entire shopping decision on that one concept barring a drastic difference in quality— the cheaper option.

It is kind of hard to argue with that logic. When you buy something the idea is to get whatever you want for less. There are some in the self storage industry that understand and embrace this idea.

Door to Door Storage certainly is. The portable self storage provider understands that this time of year is when many people start to think about relocating or remodeling and in need of some extra space. That is why they have decided to go ahead and offer their lowest rates of the year.

“We’ve found that most moves are booked in May,” said Tracey Kelly, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Door to Door. “Door to Door has always provided the best value in moving for our customers and we are pleased to be able to lend a helping hand during a time when they need us most.”

USSelfStorageLocator.com understands this too. As an aggregator that currently has around 5,500 of the 50,000+ self storage facilities in the United States on its digital rolodex they have been faced with a problem that has prompted them to offer the best kind of discount there is—free service.

According to representatives for the site they are getting more traffic than they can service at the moment. The problem is not that they have filled up every self storage unit it ever facility that the site services. Sometimes they are getting people looking for self storage in an area, and the site does not have a facility to offer them.

So to combat that problem they are telling any self storage facility that will listen to go ahead and sign up—free of charge.

“Although we have the largest selection of self storage facilities in the Country, it is unfortunate that sometimes we have to turn down business, because we do not have a storage facility in the area where the customer is located,” says CEO Victor Dante.

It is hard to beat that kind of marketing–free and effective!
