Sustaining a one- or two-day community service project takes a lot of organization, time, and effort. And, organizing and sustaining a service project that last three months takes monumental effort!
Apple Self Storage in Canada undertook a three-month-long fundraiser in an effort to raise monies to support the ABLE Network. The ABLE Network is a non-profit organization that assists intellectually disabled young adults.
Headquartered in Aurora, Ontario, The ABLE Network assists young adults with intellectual disabilities. They provide inclusive work opportunities in natural job and community settings. Participants are trained and supported in five core programs: work experience, transit training, recreation, literacy, and volunteer activities. These programs make it possible for these young adults to develop skill levels, confidence, and self-sufficiency so that they can participate fully in society. As a volunteer-run organization it relies on the support of local residents and businesses to carry out their programs.
So, back in September, Apple Self Storage launched their three-month-long fundraiser. During the campaign through September, October, and November, each of their 15 facilities donated $5 from every move-in rental of a new storage unit. Their customers were also encouraged to donate to the fundraiser. Apple Self Storage set the goal of collecting $6,000.
Over the months, their amount steadily grew and grew. When they recently wrapped up the fundraiser, they were pleasantly surprised. They surpassed their goal! They were able to raise $6,695.
Apple Self Storage presented a check for the total amount to the ABLE Network at the annual Apple Self Storage awards dinner that was held in Toronto. Participants of the ABLE Network were in attendance.
As a frequent partner of local charities and support groups, Apple Self Storage recognizes the importance of responsible corporate citizenship and uses its unique position to help bridge the funding gaps experienced by many non-profit bodies.
For this upcoming Christmas, the three Apple Self Storage that are in the Halifax-area are also collecting non-perishable food items. They hope to gather at least 300 pounds of food by the end of today. They will donate the food to help needy local residents.
Apple Self Storage is a family-owned business and has 6 facilities in Ontario, 3 in Nova Scotia, and 6 in New Brunswick. They regularly team up with local charities and promotions in support of the communities where they are located.
