At Christmas time, children are busy putting up decorations, making and frosting cookies to give away, shopping and wrapping presents, and eagerly awaiting the time when Santa Claus will come. However, there are some children that can’t do those things – they are sick in the hospital.
As Christmas approaches, many hospitals make a special effort to prepare their patients to go home for Christmas – even if it is only for a few hours on Christmas Day. Christmas is an important time for families to celebrate and be together. However, sometimes the patients are just too sick to be discharged from the hospital. It is especially hard for little children to have to be in the hospital over the holidays.
Access Self Storage in Basingstoke, UK, is doing something to make Christmas day a little brighter for those children who will be staying in the hospital. They are participating in a toy drive. The toys will be given to the children who are in the Frimley Park Hospital F1 Children’s Ward.
People interested in donating new and unused presents, games, and toys can drop off those items at Access Self Storage in Rankine Road. They are encouraged to donate the items now so that they can be delivered in time for Christmas.
Access Self Storage has participated in the toy drive now for two years. Duncan Robson, manager of the Access Self Storage, said that last year people donated 100 toys and gifts. That made a big difference to the children in the hospital. He is hoping to beat last year’s total.
A hospital spokesman said that the hospital is very grateful for Access Self Storage and all of their hard work in collecting and delivering the toys. Each child in the hospital was able to receive a present on Christmas morning. The children’s parents were also very grateful that Christmas was made a little brighter for their child while still in the hospital
