Having a new baby is pretty much the biggest change any family can experience. There is so much to do and get ready for by the time the baby comes that it can be very overwhelming.
And while it can be a fun and scary time, there are a couple of things you can do in order to make the entire process and transition much smoother. After all, once the baby arrives you are going to want to focus on them!
One of the very best things you can do is organize for a new baby. If you haven’t noticed already, you will soon notice that babies require a lot of stuff. From clothes to diapers, lotions and bibs, your home will soon be overwhelmed with baby supplies.
The best way to combat feeling like you have stuff everywhere is to get organized. Start in the baby’s room. Set up a lot of shelves, drawers and bins in the room to separate and organize. Have a specific bin for diapers, for onesies, and for bibs.
An easy way to get organized is to look for baby furniture that has some built in storage capabilities. These can be a lifesaver to the moms and dads who are looking for help with finding places to keep all of the baby’s things.
Another way to make your life easier in the baby’s room is to set up specific stations strategically. So, at the diaper station, have the diapers, lotions and powders already preset and organized.
Then, at the dressing station, have your bins with the baby’s clothes ready to go. Then for those times when a quick change is needed, everything is going to be exactly where it is needed.
The same can be true for bath time. Some parents might use the bathroom while others use the kitchen. Either way, you can make things easier by creating a little carryall that is going to include all of the special baby soaps, washes and shampoos.
Be Car Ready
Also remember, that wherever you go with your baby, you need to be prepared to bring your baby’s stuff. That’s why it’s a good idea to have both the car prepared and a diaper bag ready to go as well.
It takes only a few minutes to get a small plastic bin in the back or trunk of your car filled with the emergency essentials. Keep a couple of diapers, some baby wipes, some sunscreen, a extra bottle of water or two, and a change of clothes or two in it for the baby.
You can do the same for the diaper bag. Since this bag will go basically everywhere you and your baby go, you absolutely want to be sure you find a great, comfortable bag that also allows you to be organized.
Use Your Free Time
Now that you are ready to organize for a new baby, you can spend a lot less time looking for things that your baby needs, and spend a lot more time with your new little one.
